Anna Krenz, artist and activist within the Polish queer feminist collective Dziewuchy Berlin, explores how artistic practices can serve as tools of dissent against right-wing populism and authoritarian tendencies. Through examples of protests, artworks, performances and public actions like “Global Scream!” and “Instant Theatre”, she will present how artistic strategies can challenge dominant narratives, reclaim public space, and create spaces of solidarity.

Investigative journalist Sonja Peteranderl and journalist and activist Matthias Monroy provide insight into ongoing predictive policing experiments and trace the history of facial recognition systems in Germany.

This event will focus on understanding how an illiberal democracy has successfully existed in the middle of the EU for the last fifteen years and how propaganda is an important tool within it.

The talk and the workshop aim to familiarize the participants with the nature, use of X-rays technology and images in visual arts and as evidence of war crimes through forensic investigations and prosecutions. The right to analogue is not a rejection of technology, but a call for autonomy. It is another tool in the toolbox of digital rights activists, alongside decentralised software alternatives. If the right to analogue is formally recognised, companies and institutions would be obliged to provide diverse options, and this in turn could help loosen the grip that tech monopolies have on individuals, governments and society.
