Stories and reflections on recent events in the Mediterranean, including the “f.lotta,” the flotilla, ship-to-ship communications, and compass readings. A journey that weaves together experiences of navigation and solidarity, paths of resistance, and collective memories—from the sea as a frontier to the sea as a space of connection and freedom.

To speak of the Levant is to tell a story by voice, with images lingering in the background like backdrops of a theater that never closes.

Let us start with the journey. With the 2025 flotilla, when the sea was not just water but a stubborn road eastward.

The ships carried food, medicine, and something more subtle: proof that a route exists if someone traces it.

Then the truce. October 2025. And the sea – that frontier that once seemed like a wall – becomes a space of memory and connection. Because Gazaweb knows that navigation is not only by boats. There is another crossing: one of bits, signals, frequencies cutting through the darkness.

Thus the GASH are born – Gazaweb Social Hubs. Two permanent centers. One in Gaza City, the other inside the university of Khan Younis. They are not just buildings. They are technological lighthouses in a landscape of dust and broken silences. After the destruction of networks and classrooms, thousands of students had been left voiceless. The emergency hotspots kept life alight. Now comes stability.

Reliable connection to study, to take exams, to call a distant father. And training: local technicians learning to manage the network. Because rebuilding a country means restoring tools to those who remain.

From the sea to the fiber optic cable. From the flotilla to the router. The Levant is this: a direction, a courage, a light that always rises in the east.
