Challenging Corruption

Empowering Future Voices

Our free programme series Challenging Corruption: Empowering Future Voices (2021-2022) is directed to a young public between 18 and 30 years of age from Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The series of online Disruptive Fridays and workshops aims to jointly discuss on how to recognise corruption in different sectors (financial inequality, public health care systems, the climate crisis, damage to democracy), and imagine new tools and solutions together.

The Disruptive Fridays series is curated by Michael Hornsby (Communications Consultant, Anti-Corruption Data Collective) and Tatiana Bazzichelli. The workshop programme is curated by Michael Hornsby, Nada Bakr and Lieke Ploeger. The network of participants is coordinated by Olga Daitche (Programme Manager with a Cultural Anthropology background).

About the Programme

In the programme series Challenging Corruption: Empowering Future Voices (2021-2022), the Disruption Network Lab hosts a series of online workshops connected to public online conversations as part of the Disruptive Fridays series.

Together with workshop participants and invited speakers we aim to reflect on new ways of challenging corruption in our societies, and imagine new tools and solutions together.

The series is focused at people between 18-30 years of age from Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

How can we imagine a society with less corruption, more transparency and less power intrigue, where there is the freedom to investigate and denounce abuses? Which informational, political, technological and artistic countermeasures against corruption can we imagine together? What are possible future solutions, tools and approaches for countering corruption across different countries and regions?

The series approaches these questions through four areas of work, where we can all see and experience the impact of corruption:

  • Economic inequality, between and within countries;

  • The undermining of public health care systems;

  • Environmental damage and the climate crisis;

  • Damage to democracy and freedom of expression.

Through a series of Disruptive Fridays conversations, we explore what anti-corruption experts addressing these challenges can teach us, not only about the mechanisms of corruption and how to fight it, but about upholding integrity and standing up to power in our own lives.

The series is free of charge, and the format presents a live session of 45 minutes open to all, and a private session only for the selected workshop participants to dig deeper into the topics of the public session.

The public session are accessible here.
